United Way of Randolph County Foundation
The United Way of Randolph County Foundation was established by community leaders in 2000 to ensure and enhance United Way’s continued ability to serve our community. The goal is to secure the quality of life we have all come to appreciate here for our children and grandchildren. The Foundation is a program under the auspices of the United Way of Randolph County.
Creating a strong Foundation in addition to our traditional fund raising strategy will enable United Way to serve the community in ways not possible through the annual campaign alone. Additional resources from the Foundation will enable United Way to plan ahead and to meet the future needs of our growing and changing community.
The Foundation welcomes both current and planned gifts of any amount. For more information,

& Legacy Gifts.

Building an Endowment
The United Way of Randolph County Foundation is building an Endowment which will allow United Way to prepare for the future and to serve the community in ways annual campaigns cannot accommodate. Interest income from the Endowment will allow United Way to:
- Stabilize agency funding against economic downturn
- Meet community emergencies and unanticipated needs as they arise
- Sustain and enhance programs under way
- Support special initiatives
- Provide donors with an opportunity for Strategic Philanthropy
The Foundation welcomes gifts of any amount. A gift to the Foundation is an investment in our community. Your gift to United Way of Randolph County Foundation will help those in need today and continue to improve the quality of life in our community for years to come.
Foundation Giving
Charitable giving can be simple, affordable and surprisingly beneficial to the donor. There are a number of charitable and planned giving options to choose from.
Honor and Memorial Gifts
Honor and Memorial Gifts are thoughtful and appropriate ways to honor a person or an event or to remember a loved one. Any gift to the Foundation, regardless of size or type, can be given as an honor or memorial gift.
Bequests
Giving through a will is one of the simplest ways to make a charitable gift. There are several ways you can benefit United Way of Randolph County through your will. By having your attorney revise or add a simple provision to your will, you can specify a gift of:
- A specific dollar amount
- A specific property, such as land, a home or other valuables
- A percentage of your estate
- A residual – what is left over after remembering your loved ones and paying any debts and costs
You may also wish to mane one or more charitable organizations as contingent beneficiaries in case other heirs to not survive you.
Life Insurance
You can name United Way of Randolph County Foundation as the beneficiary, co-beneficiary or contingent beneficiary of your life insurance. Or, you could transfer ownership of the insurance policy to the Foundation. A donor can also choose to buy a new policy for the benefit of the Foundation. There could be tax advantages to some of these arrangements.
Stocks, Securities, or other Financial Accounts
Securities can be gifted just like cash. Almost any financial account can be made payable at your death to another person or to a charitable organization.
Real Estate
Real estate can be deeded to an organization at any time during your life. You could retain your right to use the property while you remain alive if you wish.
Retirement Savings
Pensions, 401(k) plans, IRAs, and other retirement savings plans make excellent charitable gifts because of potential tax savings. Retirement savings can be gifted by listing the charitable organization as beneficiary upon your death. US savings bonds can be willed, but cannot be left through a beneficiary designation.
Revocable Living Trusts
Any gift that can be given through a will can also be given through a revocable living trust. Just name United Way of Randolph County Foundation as one of the beneficiaries of your trust.
Charitable Remainder Trusts, Gift Annuities, and Pooled Income Funds
Any of these arrangements can provide income for you or your heirs and also for the named charity.
